ABOUT MELTIO

What is the Meltio System?

What is Meltio?

The Meltio System is an advanced metal 3D printing technology that utilizes Laser Metal Deposition (LMD), a form of Directed Energy Deposition (DED). This process involves feeding welding wire into a laser-generated melt pool, allowing for the precise stacking of weld beads to create fully dense metal parts. Unlike traditional powder-based 3D printing, Meltio’s wire-based approach is safer, cleaner, and more cost-effective, making it suitable for various industrial applications

Revolutionise Your Workshop with Metal 3D Printing
The Meltio System is reshaping how you build and repair metal parts. Add cutting-edge metal 3D printing to your CNC or robot platform — right on the factory floor.

The Meltio System uses laser metal deposition to 3D print real metal parts using standard welding wire. It’s clean, cost-effective, and fully automates metal part creation and repair.

No powder, no mess.

Material VersatilitySupports a wide range of metals, including stainless steel, titanium, nickel, and Inconel. The system’s dual-wire capability allows for the creation of new alloys on the fly and applications like hard-facing or anti-corrosion coatings .

Integration FlexibilityThe Meltio Engine can be integrated into existing CNC machines or robotic platforms, transforming them into hybrid manufacturing systems. This integration enables both additive and subtractive manufacturing processes within a single setup, enhancing production flexibility .

Operational EfficiencyDesigned for ease of use, requiring minimal operator intervention. Features like the Meltio Horizon software and Laser Calibration System facilitate user-friendly operation and ensure consistent, high-quality output .

Applications Across Industries

The Meltio System is versatile and finds applications in various sectors:

AerospaceManufacturing complex components like rocket nozzles and brackets with materials such as Inconel and titanium

AutomotiveProducing parts like turbo impellers and connecting rods, enhancing performance and reducing weight

Oil & GasCreating durable components like pipe manifolds and gas turbine blades, capable of withstanding harsh environments

DefenseEnabling on-demand production and repair of critical parts, improving supply chain resilience

Tool & DieFabricating and repairing molds and dies, extending their service life and reducing downtime

Business Benefits

Cost SavingsUtilises standard welding wire, which is more affordable than metal powders, reducing material costs.

Reduced Lead TimesEnables rapid production and repair of parts, minimizing downtime and accelerating time-to-market

Enhanced FlexibilityThe ability to switch between materials and integrate with existing equipment allows businesses to adapt quickly to changing demands.

Improved SustainabilityThe wire-based process generates less waste compared to traditional subtractive methods, contributing to more sustainable manufacturing practices.

Testimonials

What Meltio Customers around the world are saying

” We were looking for a metal 3D printing technology with a compact metal 3D printer and that is one of the main advantages of adopting Meltio’s technology. The Meltio M450 metal 3D printer allows us to work with various materials. My students have published two papers on Meltio’s DED technology and we can conclude that it is satisfactory and positive. We printed stainless steel and the experience was very adequate with the M450. We also highlight the Dual-Wire. “ Northwestern University is an American University that uses Meltio’s technology for research purposes.

” There are several positive aspects of working with Meltio’s technology: easy-to-use, faster than WAAM, allows materials that aren’t in the portfolio so it is an open materials platform, the Meltio Horizon software is a very useful tool, it is quite easy to start printing, among others. We chose Meltio because of the density and metal integrity of the parts and the different materials we can print without much cost in changing one material to another material. And, on top of that, the price of the parts is lower than other technologies. “ Hirudi is a Spanish company that provides specialized Additive Manufacturing services and consultancy using a Meltio M450.

” If we compare with other makers of laser, with Meltio we’ve had the clearer deposition in thousands of parts, and that is nice to see. We can also make some parts that are impossible to make without Meltio’s technology. We can produce one part with one configuration, then another one with a total different one. Without Meltio’s technology, we wouldn’t be able to do it because the costs would be too high. “ Sivó is a Spanish company specialized in the repair of glass molds using a Meltio Engine CNC Integration.

R&D Integrations Director / Sivó

” We chose the Meltio product because we found the best balance between high deposition rates and good quality for the task at hand. Meltio represents for us the right balance between a high deposition speed as well as a high printing size with the best feasible quality or resolution. “ K3D is a Dutch Service Bureau that prints different parts for end-users across various industries using a Meltio M450 and a Meltio Engine Robot Integration.
